Dear Trabuco Highlands Neighbors,
This area on our website provides an informational and pictorial update regarding the Trabuco Highlands Slope Renovation Project. After extensive planning, communication and funding evaluations, please recall that approximately two years ago we began the community-wide project to address and upgrade our community's largest asset, our 80 plus acres of green, open space. As the community is approaching 25 years of age, much of the plant material is aged, diseased or required excessive amounts of water. This renovation plan is being funded with the current dues level through annual budget contributions to a Landscape Renovation Reserve, so it will require approximately ten years to complete the entire community, at the current funding level. The emphasis on maintaining the dues at current levels and extending the renovation over many years was carefully considered due to the economic times that we face. With water becoming more and more valuable, scarce and costly, and with this trend projected to only continue, a "sustainable" plant palette was considered and selected. Although it is "sustainable", you will see by the pictorial display, the materials that have been selected are attractive, colorful and durable. On this site you will find a community-wide plan of action with a Phasing Map and a depiction of how the different plant materials are designed to be installed on the various areas of the slopes. If you interested in seeing (in person!) what a re-planted slope looks like, please take a walk or drive to the south end of Rosemont Drive. Several years ago, this was considered to be one of the slopes with the worst plant conditions. It has been replanted with many of the new plants that have been mixed in with the older healthy plants that were not removed. Again, thank you for your patience while this project proceeds.
