The Bay Banter -June/July 2000
NEXT BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
The next meeting of the Board of Directors will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday July 10, 2000 at the Marlow residence, 401 Monarch Bay Drive. A homeowner forum will be held at the beginning of the meeting, to provide the homeowners with an opportunity to discuss issues directly with the Board. The August Board meeting will be held on Monday, August 14, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. at the McClung residence, 409 Monarch Bay Drive.

PARKING RULES AND ENFORCEMENT SURVEY
Thank you who responded to our parking survey of May. The response shows divided opinion on most issues; but a healthy majority support rules that require owners/residents to park in their garage to the maximum capacity with additional cars in the driveway. While the respondents indicated that overnight street parking is acceptable, they want street parking of vehicles in excess of 72 hours to be restricted to those vehicles with a permit for special circumstances (such as house guests).

The Board strongly agrees with the comment from a homeowner as follows: If a particular parking situation is concerning neighbors, the first and best course of action is for the neighbors to discuss the situation directly. As a community, we will be much better off if we exercise reasonable consideration for each other rather than attempt strict enforcement of the Bylaws or other restrictions. After further evaluation and consideration of the survey responses, the Board has agreed not to adopt or revise the current restrictions at this time.

GATEHOUSE TELEPHONE NUMBER CHANGE
Effective July 5th, the telephone number at the gatehouse will be changed to promote the privacy of our residents and to better control the community access. Please note this in your 2000 directory. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining the confidentiality of this number.

NEW DUMPSTER POLICY
In an effort to address concerns with aesthetics and street damage, the Board adopted a new policy at the May meeting for the placement of commercial dumpsters within Monarch Bay, effective July 1, 2000. For clean-up projects, a dumpster may only be left on the street in front of your home over one-night or one weekend only. At homes with ongoing approved construction projects, a dumpster can be placed on the property; however, storage of a dumpster on the street must be approved by the Architectural Control Committee in accordance with the Architectural Guidelines. Thank you for your compliance with this policy.
