The Bay Banter - September 2000
A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU!
We wish to extend our appreciation to Bob Girvetz for his years of dedicated service to our community! Bob has just finished serving out his three year term and decided not to run for re-election. Bob has not only served on the Board during this time, but he has also served on the Architectural Control Committee and Chaired the Mall Landscape Committee. Our thanks and best wishes to Bob!

ENTRY PLAZA ENHANCEMENT PROJECT
We are pleased to announce that we have received responses from 141 homes with regard to the vote to upgrade the entry plaza with paving stones. Of those who responded, 116 were in favor of the project and 25 were opposed. This majority vote of the community members allows the project to proceed; however, some additional investigation needs to be completed before the project may proceed. The next step is to appoint a Committee to commence a step by step feasibility of the project. In addition, CalTrans will become involved in their own feasibility study for their portion of the entry area immediately adjacent PCH. We will continue to update you on the status of this project. Thank you very much for your input, it will be invaluable to the Committee.

MONARCH BEACH CIVIC ASSOCIATION
The next very important meeting of the Monarch Beach Civic Association will be held on Friday, September 29th, from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., in the fellowship room of South Shores Church, 32712 Crown Valley Parkway. The purpose of this special meeting is to hear from the Dana Point City Council candidates and to hear Gelson's creative plans for the Monarch Bay Plaza.

There are five council candidates (Michael Flammer, Geoffrey Lachner, Joe Snyder, and incumbent Ruby Netzley and William Ossenmacher). Two seats are open. There will be short addresses and then questions from the audience, according to emcee Jim Davy. We expect this part of the program to be less than an hour. The Gelson's presentation will occupy the remaining time. We hope you can be there!

RED CURB PAINTING FOR FIRE HYDRANTS
The Board of Directors voted to paint the curbs red in front of each of the 25 fire hydrants in the community, in accordance with the guidelines established by the Orange County Fire Authority. The fire hydrants are located between the following homes: 3-5, 4-145, 16-64, 31, 52, 70-74, 89-91, 99-101, 109-195, 115-117, 126-128, 136-138, 162-216, 172-186, 177-179, 201-203, 211-214, 220-222, 232-234, 325, 335-337, 345-347, 409-411, 419-421 and 431-435. Please advise your family and guests not to park in front of the fire hydrants or in red curbed areas. We thank you for your cooperation.

COMMUNITY REMINDERS
* Parents, please talk with your children about the safety and courtesy needed when they ride motorized scooters or razor scooters in the community. The concern with their safety riding in areas where cars are present is a primary concern for all. The secondary issue is the noise and nuisance associated with this activity. We thank you for cooperation.

* We appreciate your consideration in limiting calls to Board or Committee members to reasonable weekday hours. The weekends and late evening hours are not always convenient times to discuss non-urgent association business. On behalf of the Board members, Committee members, their spouses and children, we very much appreciate your courtesy.

COLUMBUS DAY HOLIDAY
Please note that the offices of Progressive Community Management will be closed on Monday October 9, 2000 for the Columbus Day Holiday. As always, emergency service is available 24 hours a day by calling our regular business line and following the emergency paging instructions.
